ORGANIC COTTON
“We are more than 15 years in textile production, from our experience we know very well that quality productions have a precise cost”.
To put it another way: if you plan to buy a quality T-shirt for 5 euros, you are out of the right way.
What affects the cost of the packaged product is not only the fabrics, but also the processing, spinning, dyeing and production.
At the base of a t-shirts there is a plant: that of cotton.
The cost of producing and selling a cotton t-shirt or sweatshirt also affects the techniques by which the cotton plant is grown.
As Lava Sportswear, in the "Daily Life" collection we will try to make our garments for the most part in certified 100% organic cotton.
Organic cotton is a natural GMO-free fiber that requires less water for its lifetime than classic cotton. In addition, its production does not involve the use of chemicals (fertilizers or pesticides) and encourages crop rotation to keep soil healthier, more fertile and maintain moisture. Waste from the cotton graining process is also recycled for the animal feed industry.
Also be careful to understand if it is certified organic cotono because it is the only way to know how your shirt is built.
THE GOTS CERTIFICATION OF OUR ORGANIC COTTON
GOTS - Global Organic Textile Standard – is the most rigorous certification for fabrics made from organic fibers. GOTS tracks the entire production chain from the farm to the factory: from cotton harvesting, to weaving fibers, to the assembly of items, to the final product before printing, including the export of our garments! It certifies that cotton is GMO-free and is grown without the use of chemicals and is processed and dyed without the use of prohibited toxic substances.
GOTS also ensures compliance with the Work Standards of the International Labour Organization throughout the production chain.
RECYCLED POLYESTER
We use recycled polyester as a complement (up to 15%) cotton in some of our sweatshirts from the Daily Life collection.
GRS CERTIFICATION
Global Recycled Standard certifies that the materials used are recycled: in the case of polyester, from plastic bottles.
GRS also ensures compliance with social and environmental criteria such as wastewater treatment, the absence of certain toxic additives and compliance with working conditions in factories.
OEKO-TEX
You can't buy trust. It must be earned. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certifies the absence of harmful chemicals in all organic cotton products "Confidence in textile". An independent testing and certification system that ensures that all raw, half-finished and finished textiles are processed in a way that gives priority:
The precautionary principle, which prohibits some potentially harmful substances even when they are not (yet) legally prohibited
The absence of chemicals harmful to health and the environment
